Chairman's Message

Dear friends…

Ekalavya Foundation has been operating with the time tested principle of solving village level issues through collective action of the local communities from the past 16 years and it has been quite successful. We have established the ‘Village Development Committees (VDCs)’ in several villages and inculcated the culture of organizing monthly meetings for the same. Successfully running the meetings and participation of villagers in development activities in the project villages of Ekalavya Foundation shows their journey towards self-reliance. Nature has enough for our needs but not for our greed. We thought about utilizing resources properly and handing over them to future generations.

For improving soil, water and environment we are working on ‘Watershed’ programs. Till now 37,642 Acres of land in a single stretch impacted through our efforts. In villages, for 90% of the families’ agriculture is a source of livelihood. In order to make agriculture a gainful occupation, Ekalavya Foundation initiated promotion efforts and extension activities for “Organic Agriculture” in 2015. The objectives of this initiative are reducing cost of cultivation and indebtedness of farmers and enriching the soil fertility. Demonstration fields have been organized for organic agriculture to display its advantages in many villages.

Ekalavya Foundation also obtained the status of P.G.S. Regional Council for certification of organic farming practices. Our organization started the ‘Vidya Vahini’ program for recognizing brilliant students in government schools and encouraging them.

Ekalavya Foundation has crossed several milestones during its journey spanning more than a decade. The appreciations from the beneficiaries of our programmes and their happiness have become a source of enthusiasm for our trustees, advisors and staff. We sincerely acknowledge the support extended by our donors and take this opportunity and express our profound gratitude.
