Bullocks for farm work
Bullocks were an integral part of farmers’ family before farm equipment like tractors have come in to picture. But a lot of small farmers do not have access to farm machines like tractors. Use of tractors has led to an increase in the cost of cultivation. To bring bullocks back to farms EF has distributed a pair of bullocks to ten farmer households belonging to Kollam tribe in Indravelly mandal of Adilabad district. Bullocks have been sourced from some of the prominent Goshalas.
Mango Orchard – The Secure source of Income
To achieve income security EF has promoted the planting of mango orchards during the year 2013 as part of watershed development activities. Farmers also cultivating intercrops and earned about Rs. 1 lac per acre from selling mangoes.
Munde Bapu Rao of Indravelly village planted 320 mango saplings in his 4 acres of land has taken great care of the orchard by providing timely manures and plant protection. He grows inter crops like red gram, black gram, green gram in between trees. In 2017 he sold mangoes from the orchard directly in the market and earned net income average of Rs.1 lac per acre.
